SCOPE OF DRIVER INFORMATION SYSTEMS. IN: BEHAVIORAL AND NETWORK IMPACTS OF DRIVER INFORMATION SYSTEMS

The various contributions in this article demonstrate that research on driver information systems has really taken off in the 1990s. The various types of modeling efforts show that these research efforts lead to significant improvements in traditional spatial interaction and transport choice models. The contributions also pinpoint the sensitivity of modeled results on human behavior aspects of drivers. Apparently, modeling human behavior - in an interplay with the behavioral impacts of other actors - is a formidable research task. The present modeling efforts highlight various limitations and potential opportunities in this field and foreshadow some of the modeling trends in a travel behavior that might be expected at the run of the century.
