THE CONTROL OF NOISE POLLUTION

IL CONTROLLO DELL'INQUINAMENTO ACUSTICO

Legislation in Italy stipulates that motor vehicles and motorcycles must be provided with suitable sound reducing devices, which must be properly maintained and not modified, and that vehicles must be driven in such a way as to avoid disturbing noises. This article reviews the unit of sound measurement (db) and its related measuring apparatus, prior to discussing the noise limits and methods of testing laid down in the Italian standards. /TRRL/
