THE HORIZONTAL AND VERTICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF TRANSITION CURVES WITH PARTICULAR REFERENCE TO ROADS WITH LOW DESIGN SPEEDS
SULLE CARATTERISTICHE PLANO-ALTIMETRICHE DEI RACCORDI DELLE CURVE STRADALI CON PATRICOLARE RIFERIMENTO ALLE STRADE CON BASSA VELOCITA DI BASE
This article considers the speed at which vehicles could safely negotiate each curve in order to define basic parameters for progressive transition length, in highway design situations of appreciable horizontal and vertical irregularity. The need for solutions which permit continuity and uniformity to the whole route, is stressed. Selection of the transition parameters is based on dynamic criteria, with special attention being paid to the speed variable, the value of which must in all cases be confined between fixed limits. /TRRL/
