Assessing the Benefits and Costs of Intelligent Tranportation Systems: Ramp Meters
This report first identifies key ramp metering technologies. A literature review of published ramp metering algorithms follows. Previous applications of ramp metering are reviewed, with focus on costs and benefits. In order to simulate freeway traffic behavior, a traffic model is described. A benefit cost analysis is then performed based on the benefits derived from the simulation and costs of ramp metering.
