ANALYSIS OF A WAVE STRUCTURE SOIL SYSTEM - A CASE STUDY OF A GRAVITY PLATFORM
The dynamic response characteristics for a typical gravity platform are studied. The relative significance of soil stiffness, soil damping and tower stiffness is studied as pertaining to the most important design parameters. Both deterministic and stochastic wave loadings are considered; using three different wave spectra to describe the sea state. Finally, the effect of drag forces and wave-current interaction is given.
