SHOCK ABSORBER TESTERS FOR VEHICLE INSPECTION
"On The Vehicle" shock absorber testers are either of the axledrop type or of the resonant wheel-vibration type. In order to compare their qualities, their performance figures were compared to the "Road Holding" facotrs of a mass-spring-shock absorber system, and tested on a road simulator. Several popular vehicles, with different shock absorber sittins, were subjected to the test. Other aspects of these testers for evental use in vehcile inspection stations were examined. It was found that testers belonging to the resonant wheel-vibraton type were more accurate and closer to the specifications for this use.
