PROSPECTS OF DEVELOPMENT OF TRANSPORTATION OF PIECE-PACKAGE CARGO ON PALLETS AND IN LARGE-LOAD CONTAINERS

PERSPEKTIVY RAZVITIYA PEREVOZOK TARNO-SHTUCHNYKH GRUZOV NA PODDANAKH I BOL'SHEGRUZNYKH KONTEINERAKH

Results of an analysis carried out by the Moscow Institute of Railroad Transport Engineers are presented. It concerned the volumes and correspondences of piece-package cargo flows in mixed rail and waterway (sea) communication systems and the possibility of their adaptation to their transportation cargoes between the USSR and other countries are given and four methods of transportation and processing of piece-package freight along the way from the finished product shops to the customer are discussed. Advantages of transportation of such a cargo in 20-ton containers with packets on pallets are demonstrated.
