CREEP OF SAND-ICE SYSTEM--DISCUSSION
The additional evidence is noted which supports the concept that at least 2 relations are required for representing stress-strain curves obtained prior to tertiary creep by replotting creep data. The author points out one of the most salient points raised in this paper: the change in the stress-strain relation becomes more apparent as the time of loading increases, or the average creep rate of the test decreases. The obtaining of the limiting long-term strength (LLTS) is discussed and it is asserted that the discussers implication that LLTS must be history dependent is incorrect. Comment is also made on the criterion for determining creep instability.
