AIR POLLUTION EMISSIONS AND CONTROL TECHNOLOGY ASPHALT PAVING INDUSTRY
This report examines the present and future contributions to air pollution by the Canadian hot-mix asphalt industry and discusses the equipment and technology available to control these air pollution emissions. There are 357 reported asphalt plants in Canada and their annual production in 1972 was 14.5 million tons of asphalt. Particulate emissions are the largest air pollutant associated with the industry and amount to more than 60,000 tons per year. Methods for controlling these emissions and costs associated with providing pollution control equipment for the industry are discussed in detail.
