SYNTHETIC RUBBER SPRINGS
Neoprene disc springs, developed in Austria, are replacing both the steel and natural rubber springs formerly used, because of their better all-round performance. In service operating tests, neoprene springs have been used on railcar bogies with excellent results. They have all the qualities of steel springs as regards suspension, also self-dampening properties which do away with the need for hydraulic shock absorbers. They have good resistance to oil, heat, weather, ozone, and abrasion.
