A EUROPEAN ORGANISATION FOR AVIATION SAFETY
A number of European countries have agreed to cooperate in developing and implementing common safety regulatory standards and procedures. The Joint Aviation Authorities (JAA) are representing the civil aviation regulatory authorities of these nations. The objectives of the JAA are to: 1) ensure that its members obtain a high and consistent safety level, 2) achieve a system of safety that is cost effective, 3) contribute to fair and equal competition among its members, and 4) promote worldwide the JAA standards to improve aviation safety.
