EXTRACTION OF TRAFFIC INFORMATION FROM IMAGES AT DEIS
This paper describes a study which is examining the use of computer vision for extracting information from urban traffic images. Two algorithms are involved: 1) a virtual inductive loop algorithm which computes image differences and is specific for vehicle counting and detection; and, 2) a block matching algorithm that is useful for vehicle motion detection and tracking. The paper concludes with a discussion regarding future research plans.
