JOB-RELATED ATTITUDES AND SAFETY ORIENTATION OF PROFESSIONAL DRIVERS
This paper reports on a study that examined professional drivers' risk evaluation and the self-reported commission of traffic violations in relation to occupational commitment and commitment to the organization. A questionnaire was administered to 359 professional male drivers in the Israeli army. The main purpose of the study was to compare committed and non-committed drivers in regard to safety orientation; the interaction between commitment and the personality trait of sensation seeking was also examined. A secondary purpose of the study was to examine the safety orientation of committed drivers in relation to traits they attribute to professional drivers.
