CLEVELAND HARBOR MODERNIZATION
The study revealed that a conveyor system linking inland plant facilities with improved lakefront facilities would be an efficient and economical method for handling the forecast tonnage. The existing commercial harbor at Cleveland consists of a breakwater-protected lakefront on Lake Erie from which navigation channels are reached on the Cuyahoga River and Old River. The conveyor plan for delivering bulk materials to plants along the Cuyahoga River is indicated. The conveyor would operate both in a tunnel and above the ground.
