FIRECRACKER WELDING FOR SHIPYARD APPLICATION
Results are presented from a study carried out to establish the procedures, specify the operating parameters, and define the consumables needed for shipyard of firecracker welding, a version of the shielded metal-arc welding process. Among the problems considered in this study are the choice of the best electrodes, methods of directing the arc during welding, methods of holding the electrode in place during welding, and the special features of welding over tack welds.
