TO BRIDGE THE SCANDINAVIAN WAY
The present activities within infrastructure projects in and around Denmark are unprecedented. The 18 km Great Belt fixed link was completed in 1998, investigations are being carried out for a 19 km fixed link across the Fehmarn Belt between Denmark and Germany, and the 16 km Oresund fixed link between Denmark and Sweden is under construction to be inaugurated in year 2000. On completion, these projects will provide direct access between the Scandinavian countries and the European continent. The present paper focuses on selected design aspects of the bridges of these links. The projects are briefly described. For the covering abstract see IRRD E104152.
