AUTOMATIC VEHICLE LOCATION SYSTEM : A PILOT STUDY
This paper describes a pilot project designed to study the use of Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL) technology as applied to emergency dispatching and tracking functions in the City of San Jose California. The technologies involved in the AVL include Global Positioning System (GPS), wireless communications link, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
