INFORMATION, NOT LEGISLATION : ITS SETS THE SCENE FOR A SERIES OF REVIEWS OF THE PAN-EUROPEAN SCOPE PROJECT, WITH A LOOK AT ITS UK MEMBER, ROMANSE
In this article, the author describes the advantages and appeal of using technology to inform drivers, thus presenting them with alternative choices rather than burdening them with more legislation restrictions, or taxation. The article looks at the value of traffic and travel information centers, coordination between governmental agencies, and enhanced traveler information systems. The benefits realized through the ROMANSE (ROad MANagement System for Europe) are discussed.
