CONSENSUS ON ATIS
This paper presents results from a symposium designed to assess the current state of knowledge about the impact of Advanced Traveler Information Systems (ATIS). The consensus was that ATIS benefits for commuters should not be measured by travel time reductions. Rather it was agreed that consumer satisfaction is the only way to measure the success of ATIS. It was also concluded that these systems will need to be personalized in order to have travelers purchase them.
