PERCEPTUAL ATTENTION TO CONTACT ANALOGUE HEAD-UP DISPLAYS
This paper looks at the use of a head-up display (HUD) format to provide a driver with enhanced information. It presents the concept of contact analogue in information displays, problems with achieving contact analogue, and its relationship with perceptual attention. It describes an experiment in which focusing on one medium, e.g. an HUD might impair event detection in the alternative medium, e.g. a screen and vice versa.
