THE MULTILANE ELECTRONIC TOLL COLLECTION SYSTEM IN THESSALONIKI : EVALUATION OF ITS FIRST 6 MONTHS OF OPERATION
This paper describes the testing of an automated toll collection system, as part of the ADEPT (Automatic Debiting and Electronic Payment for Transport) project. The test was deployed on a site in Thessaloniki and involved a high-speed multilane electronic road tolling system and a non- stop monolane video enforcement system. The paper provides a general description of the experiment and focuses on the evaluation of the technical performance. In addition, the concepts of the economical evaluation, including primarily the socio- economic cost/benefit analysis of the Thessaloniki electronic tolling system.
