TRANSCRIPT OF THE REGIONAL WATER SUPPLY WORKSHOP SPONSORED BY COUNCIL OF GOVERNMENT'S (COG'S) TASK FORCE ON REGIONAL WATER SUPPLY ISSUES

This document provides a complete transcript for the workshop on regional water supply issues held in the Renaissance Hotel in Washington, DC on October 5, 1999. The workshop was hosted by COG's Task Force on Regional Water Supply Issues, a group formed on July 14, 1999 in response to regional drought conditions and concerns about the ability of the region's water supply system to meet increasing demands in future years. Presentations and discussions during the workshop addressed roles and responsibilities in the region's water supply system and the rules and triggers for action in current drought related water supply agreements. Further topics of consideration included the environmental impacts of drought and how they might be mitigated by drought management, issues in long-term water supply planning, and the history and status of proposed water intake relocations.
