KEEPING THE HOLY GRAIL: THE "MOBILITY VIEW" OF THE DANISH AUTOMOBILE CLUB FDM. IN: SOCIAL CHANGE AND SUSTAINABLE TRANSPORT
The paper looks at the automobile as the prime means of transportation in most of the industrialized countries where it signifies a distinct way of moving in space and time. It has led to a particular mobility paradigm, automobilization. The focus of the paper is on Denmark's FDM (Forenede Danske Motorejere) to show how one automobile club has defined and responded to the risks of automobilization, such as environmental degradation and traffic congestion. FDM's 'mobility view' is seen as a filter that shows how individuals and organizations perceive auto-related risks, traffic accidents and environmental threats posed by the car.
