STEELE CREEK BRIDGE

This paper outlines several aspects of the Steele Creek Bridge such as the bridge site, the economics of building such a structure, and the general design. For economic reasons the Steele Creek Bridge, adopts a bold general concept. All horizintal wind forces would be carried by the continuous deck to the abutments; the intermediate supports would be deliberately designed to be incapable of sharing a significant part of such wind forces; and this would be done with a superstructure of the torsionally flexible I-girder and deck slab type. /RTAC/
