BIXBY CREEK BRIDGE COMPOSITE RETROFIT PROGRAM : RETROFIT SCHEME C COLUMN TEST

This study reports on the construction, retrofit, and testing of a rectangular flexural bridge spandrel column model at a structural components laboratory. The testing was performed in a manner directly analogous to a similar test conducted for the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) on an unretrofitted, "As-Built" bridge column test specimen that modeled a typical spandrel column/arch rib connection of the Bixby Creek Bridge in Monterey, California. The report documents the design, construction, testing, and structural behavior of the test column retrofitted with the Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation Replark System (Retrofit Scheme C). The report describes the stable hysteretic behavior of the test specimen and lateral load capacity measurements.
