A FARE MODEL FOR ELECTRONIC FARE MANAGEMENT WITHIN PT
The article reviews the development of an electronic fare management system that is opening up fresh possibilities for customer oriented fares in public transport. A formal fare model for electronic fare management is presented as the basis for an innovative and flexible fare structure. This model will be tested using wide range registration as part of the "intermobil Region Dresden" project. Using a two-part model, basic fare offers can be derived for different user groups and appropriate fare parameters. Under the project, the transportation process is illustrated using the following parameters: distance, place, and direction; and weekday and journey location. The following customer-related fare parameters can be selected: passenger type and charging; comfort; discount; distance traveled; number of journeys over a set period; and limitations on use at certain times.
