IMPROVING PUBLIC TRANSPORT - ZURICH, SWITZERLAND
The quality label for Swiss tourism was launched in 1997 as a Total Quality Management (TQM) project by the Swiss Tourist Authority and other associations with an interest in the field. The programs implementation encompasses three stages. Stage 1 concentrates on quality development and is chiefly devoted to service quality; stage 2 emphasizes management quality, and stage 3 of the quality label involves certification using a standardized TQM system. The program has become firmly established in Switzerland. There have been over 3000 participants in attendance at training seminars. Today, a total of some 1000 Stage 1 quality seals and 160 Stage 2 quality seals have been awarded. 120 of these are active within the public transit and tourism sector.
