THE HARMONOISE PROJECT - DELIVERING A EUROPEAN HARMONISED NOISE PREDICTION MODEL
An evaluation of the national methods available within the EU for road and rail noise prediction showed that none of these was adequate for a harmonised prediction method. A proposal for the development of harmonised methods led to the development of the Harmonoise project involving 19 organisations. The aims of the project and the levels of accuracy of prediction required are outlined. The structures of the proposed source, propagation and engineering models, and progress on their development are described.
