THE DEVIL IS IN THE DETAIL
The Ridgeway project in the UK is a joint Metropolitan Police and Transport for London project to evaluate data recorders from different manufacturers for reliability and data quality. The project started in 2000 and has used four separate manufacturer's equipment. Applied Traffic currently monitor, maintain, collect and analyse data from Project Ridgeway's sites. The company has developed a portable loop classifier and temporary inductive loops for conducting temporary surveys. All temporary and permanent sites are calibrated using Home Office approved speed detection devices. The equipment has been used to monitor speed limit compliance and to provide data for the effects of road layout changes.
