A NEW LOOK AT FENDERING SYSTEMS
The article is a review of the design of new fendering systems and the effectiveness of existing systems. It proposes that new designs should not only allow for the absorption of the energy resulting from the impact of collision but also for its dissipation. The article analyzes and discusses the physical basis of the problem of fendering in a technical manner. Formulas, load deflection curves and illustrations of proposed systems are included.
