TEMPERATURES AND MOISTURE MOVEMENTS IN EXTERNAL WALL PANEL OF CONCRETE
TEMPERATUR-OCH FUKTRORELSER I FASADSKIVOR AV BETONG
The results of the present study indicate that the movements of moisture variations in concrete during the year play an important role. The frequency of the peak temperature in the external wall panels is so low that it should be possible to design the ties in sandwich units using the absolutely maximum movements as a basis. The curvature movements in unrestrained cladding units can be considerable. In particular, moisture gradients can give rise to marked movements of this type if the backs of the units do not have an opportunity to dry out. Also, the bending stresses in the outer panel of a sandwich unit can be considerable due to temperature and moisture gradients.
