PATH'S ROLE IN FOTS
This article discusses the concept of field operational tests (FOT) and how they serve as the transition between research and development (R&D) and full-scale deployment of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) technologies. The California PATH Program has been given the responsibility of evaluating seven Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) field operational tests. The role of PATH is to serve as coordinator and to provided oversight, promoting information sharing among FOTs and encouraging the adoption of successful evaluation approaches.
