WAVE-INDUCED MOTIONS AND LOADS-COMPARISONS BETWEEN THEORETICAL RESULTS, MODEL TESTS AND FULL SCALE MEASUREMENTS
Theoretical calculations of wave-induced motions and loads for both conventional ships and catamarans are compared with model tests in regular waves. Theoretical results are given based on the strip theory developed by Korvin-Kroukovsky and Jacobs as well as according to the new method presented by Salvesen, Tuck and Faltinsen for motions in six degrees of freedom. The correlation with model tests is generally good. Calculated response parameters in irregular waves are to some extent compared with model test and full scale measurements. Also here the agreement is reasonably good.
