PERFORMANCE ANALYSIS OF A COMMUNICATION NETWORK FOR INTELLIGENT TRANSPORT SYSTEMS

This paper presents mathematical models to approximate the spacing between the vehicles in a lane on a motorway and the distance between a fixed base station and the nearest vehicle when a data packet is transmitted. These models are optimized for different measured traffic conditions. The results are used to calculate the success probability for a test packet in the presence of interference from the same lane.
