THE NATIONAL PROTOTYPE MODEL : OREGON'S "GREEN LIGHT" CVO PROJECT
This paper describes Oregon's "Green Light" CVO )Commercial Vehicle Operations) project and how the project will become the National Prototype Model. The project consists of eight elements: 1) mainline preclearance systems at seventeen sites; 2) safety enhancements which includes two warning systems for road weather related hazards (RWIS) and downhill truck information systems (DTIS); 3) VISION technology which uses cameras for automatic vehicle identification; 4) hardware/software upgrade; 5) data base management and development; 6) electronic data interchange; 7) transponders; and, 8) independent evaluation.
