EMERGENCY DEPLOYMENT OF IVHS TECHNOLOGY FOR THE NORTHRIDGE EARTHQUAKE : AN EARLY WINNER
This paper describes efforts to design and construct a fully integrated system of high-technology Intelligent Vehicle Highway Systems (IVHS) devices to assist with the management of transportation in the Los Angeles basin after the occurrence of an earthquake in 1994. The paper looks at system design, construction, and implementation issues.
