NEURAL NETWORKS FOR MINIMIZATION OF TRAVELLING TIME ON FREEWAY SYSTEMS

This paper addresses the problem of clearing congestion situations in freeway traffic. Traffic is controlled by regulating vehicle access to the freeway and by limiting vehicle speed. The problem is stated within a deterministic context, while the optimal control law is sought in feedback form in order to react to unpredictable events. A multilayer feedforward neural map is also used.
