MINIMUM STOPPING DISTANCE FOR LINEAR CONTROL OF AN AUTOMATIC CAR- FOLLOWING SYSTEM
In this paper, the authors analyze the linear longitudinal dynamics of a platoon of multiple vehicles to determine the limitations of linear control and the minimum headway required to avoid collisions. The system constraints to be satisfied include stability, no oscillations and the control forces remaining within a specified physical limitation of the vehicle.
