MAKING PACE BUSES "SMART" THROUGH TVMS
This paper focuses on the concept of a Transit Vehicle Management System ( TVMS) as developed by the private corporation Pace. The TVMS consists of five primary systems linked together by a vehicle communications network. These are: Vehicle Area Network, Radio Frequency Data Network, Communications Control Center, Garage System and Software, and Traveler information Systems. The purpose of the TVMS is to record all operational events on board the vehicle, stamp the time and location, and transfer the data either real-time or at the end of the day.
