EXAMINING THE DELAY AND ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACTS OF TOLL PLAZA CHARACTERISTICS

This paper outlines those attributes of toll plazas which have a bearing on their ultimate performance and describes to what extent each of these can be simulated. Using the simulation model INTEGRATION, factors such as service time, types of lanes, toll booth demand. It also illustrates the various ways in which Automated Toll Collection (ATC) can yield potential system benefits.
