THE STRATEGIC APPLICATION OF INTELLIGENT TRANSPORT SYSTEMS (ITS)

This paper presents a strategic assessment for Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) applications. It first discusses the different levels of system in ITS, followed by a discussion of dysfunctional ITS systems. It then presents macro level questions for ITS, and micro and meso level ITS applications. The paper concludes with an example of a strategic application of ITS to the Adelaide metropolitan road network system.
