A SYSTEMS APPROACH TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF AN INTEGRATED COLLISION AVOIDANCE VEHICLE
This article describes efforts at Delco Electronics in the development of crash avoidance demonstration and test vehicles to evaluate the application of new sensor technologies which integrate existing vehicle features with new technologies and an understanding of driver needs. A systems design approach is used in total design process. The demonstration vehicle is described, in addition to new technologies, the driver vehicle interface, and the crash avoidance system-vehicle interface.
