SMART MICROWAVE SENSORS FOR IVHS TRAFFIC FLOW MONITORING AND INCIDENT DETECTION CONCEPTS
This paper describes the concept of a modular sensor with expandable capability. The smart sensor that is described has been proposed to the Federal Highway Administration for development by researchers at the Georgia Tech Research Institute. The sensor proposed involves an all- weather "smart" modular sensor that can replace several different existing sensors with one unit.
