DGPS BROADCASTS USING THE RADIO BROADCAST SYSTEM (RBDS) FOR IVHS

The use of Global Positioning System (GPS) technology in Intelligent Vehicle Highway Systems (IVHS) is not accurate enough to support vehicle positioning. This paper describes how a cost effective solution to providing DGPS corrections for IVHS is using the new broadcast data technology Radio Broadcast Data Standard (RBDS). The standard defines the broadcast format for transmitting data over existing FM radio station subcarriers.
