DEVELOPMENT OF A TRANSPORTATION DATA PROCESSING SYSTEM FOR METROPOLITAN TORONTO

This paper describes efforts to develop the Metropolitan Toronto Transportation Information Production System (MTIPS). MTIPS is a real- time data collection, processing, and dissemination system which can provide timely information on transit and traffic conditions. The purpose of this development is to generate accurate and reliable road travel time measurements, which will be used in a traveler information system called TravelGuide.
