VISION-BASED VEHICLE CONTROL FOR AVCS
This paper describes work focusing on the application of vision-based technology to autonomous driving. The testbed vehicle, a US Army HMMWV, equipped with a real-time vehicle mobility control system, has demonstrated autonomous road following on a test course at speeds of up to 90 km/hour under various weather and outdoor light conditions and on an interstate type highway. The paper also discusses the latest highway tests and the development of algorithms for autonomous vision-based car following.
