FIVE LESSONS FOR IVHS FROM OTHER INDUSTRIES
This article presents an examination of the success and failure of a number of technologies developed for other industries which reveal some important factors that may have a decisive impact on the eventual success of Intelligent Vehicle Highway Systems (IVHS) technology. The other industries/technologies reviewed include: Global Positioning Systems ( GPS), bar coding, nuclear technology, and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI).
