RURAL APPLICATIONS OF IVHS
This paper presents the results of a preliminary study of rural Intelligent Vehicle Highway Systems (IVHS) applications and contains specific recommendation for Advanced Rural Transportation Systems (ARTS). The paper presents suggestions for potential rural IVHS applications at three levels: 1) the main issues facing the ARTS community; 2) the perceived rural service needs that might be satisfied by IVHS, and 3) a summary of on-going and planned rural IVHS projects.
