DATA, DATA, DATA--WHERE'S THE DATA?
This paper recognizes that changes in the transportation patterns throughout the nation require a major new transportation strategy that responds to the issues facing the states individually and the nation as a whole. The need for accurate, reliable, and readily available data is seen as one of the essential tools for making the new transportation strategy a reality. The paper describes the experiences and discoveries of two states, Kentucky and California, that took a comprehensive look at the need for the appropriate transportation data.
