EXTREME VALUES OF SURFACE EFFECT SHIP (SES) RESPONSES IN A SEAWAY. PART I. ESTIMATION OF EXTREME VALUES FOR SES DESIGN CONSIDERATION
This report discusses the principle and procedure for predicting extreme values of SES responses in a seaway in an attempt to provide useful information necessary for the design. The probability function suitable for prediction is discussed in detail. Also, a discussion is given of structural reliability analysis in which the first passage failure probability is evaluated from the information on extreme values. (Author)
